2020 Ride Details

Swiss Cheese & Spotted Cows Bicycle Tour
2020 Route

About the Ride:

Swiss Cheese & Spotted Cows (SCSC) is a 4-day loop tour starting and ending in Spring Green, WI.  Meet Wednesday evening, June 24, for packet pickup and dinner, then begin your bicycling adventure on Thursday, June 25.  With a tour size limited to 65 people, you’ll avoid waiting in long lines for food, restrooms, etc.  Register early to secure your spot!

Lodging:

After a day in the saddle, enjoy the comforts of a motel/hotel room. No camping here! Four nights lodging included in the tour fee, beginning with Wednesday night (the night before the tour begins).

Luggage Transport and Support:

A vehicle will transport your luggage each day to the next overnight town.  Each person is allowed one soft-sided bag or duffel bag, not to exceed 35 pounds. SAG support will be offered, as will mechanical support, so all you’ll need to do is ride your bike!  To add to the enjoyment of your ride, please have your bike tuned up prior to arriving on the ride.

Food and Drink:

All breakfasts and dinner, except for one dinner in Madison, are included in the tour fee, starting with dinner on Wednesday evening.  Breakfasts are full, hot breakfasts as opposed to hotel continental breakfasts.  There will be opportunities each day for snacks and/or lunch in the small communities we visit (on your own).  While supported rest stops are not part of this ride, we do carry an ample supply of chin-drippin’ peaches and bananas with us for refueling during the ride.

Each day, there will be a happy hour prior to dinner featuring local craft brews at a local establishment (cost of drinks is on your own).

Mileage & Terrain:

Mileage is 55-65 miles/day, with shorter options available on days 2 and 3. The terrain ranges from gently rolling to rolling, with some flatter and hillier sections interspersed throughout.

This tour is best suited for riders of intermediate ability and above who are comfortable climbing (and descending, too!).  This tour is not recommended for beginners. Overall, the tour has less climbing than in previous years.

Both paper and electronic route maps and cue sheets will be provided.
